How PicoWay Works

All PicoWay treatments use a picosecond laser with high peak power and the shortest laser pulses available. A picosecond is a trillionth of a second! The ultra-short pulses with PicoWay are important because they lead to a photoacoustic effect that avoids heating the skin rather than a photothermal approach that heats the skin and can lead to side effects, such as downtime and scarring. Because PicoWay uses ultra-short laser pulses, the result is a laser that has low to no downtime after treatment.

  • The PicoWay laser uses 4 wavelengths to fragment the pigment into smaller pieces that allow the body’s white blood cells to engulf them for drainage via the lymphatic system in the weeks to follow.

  • The wavelengths we offer include 1064nm, 532 nm, 730nm, and 785nm.

  • These wavelengths are important because it gives us the ability to treat virtually all tattoo pigments.

  • Many Q-Switch lasers that are commonly used in the tattoo removal industry typically have one or two wavelengths, which only treats a limited range of color.

Full removal in progress. 4 treatments down and it’s fading very nicely.

One week after the 1st treatment on this piece and it is significantly fading! It won’t be long until this tattoo is light enough to cover up.

The “frosting” you see in the after picture of this piece is a normal part of the process. When the laser reacts with the pigment in skin, it releases carbon dioxide which becomes visible during treatments. It typically lasts 15-30 minutes.

PicoWay is the best laser on the market

  • In recent years, the standard for laser tattoo removal amongst leading professionals has moved away from Q-switch nanosecond lasers to Picosecond laser technology.

  • With the most effective and powerful wavelengths, we are able to safely treat all colored pigments on all skin tones.

  • The PicoWay system is faster, safer, less painful, and more effective than the older Q-switch technology. This means less treatments are required for removal.
